When to use

How to use it?

Points

Team points are a whole school reward system to encourage the children to work together to follow our golden rules and shared values. Determine the positive behaviors that will allow table groups to earn their points for their reward.

I add up classroom points by awards five points for following all five golden rules and an extra point if students follow all shared values. Classrooms have the opportunity to earn six pointes total every time they come to Art class.

Visuals

Make sure to keep track of the class points on so that each class can view the entire schools progress. It should be visible to students, and in an easy accessible place that you can recorded as they are earned.

I created an excel spreadsheet and locate each teachers class and record the earned points. This makes it quick and easy to keep track of points.

Winners

At the end of the week or month, tally up the points. Then, announce the winning classes and award them with a gold, silver and bronze crayon that they will be able to keep in their room for the entire month. Also, sometimes make some special announcements in morning announcements to hear who the winner are for extra motivation.

How They Are Made

These crayons are super easy to make. All you need is access to a 3D printer and some cardboard mailing tubes! I will share the process of how I made them. If you would like to make your own you will have to download the files on Teacher Pay Teachers.

I used a gray PLA filament to print the caps and bottoms.
After the caps and bottoms were printer, I spray painted them gold, silver, and bronze.
Next, I cut a 3” x 16″ x .080” carboard mailing tube.

Then, I printed and laminated the wraps used to put around the tube.
I used clear packing take to make them look seamless.
Next, I created the boxes out of wood using a template I created.
I used painters tape to make the lines on the boxes clean and neat.
After many coats of paint, and lots of patience the boxes were completed.
